i wanted to document the expected decay of civil liberties as we are marching on towards the big brother state... but i'm getting really tired with it because it seems to be going exactly by the book. so please just go and read the history books.
i left germany after the wall came down because i couldn't bear the new-found patriotism. now i feel like wanting to leave this planet because i still haven't found port watson.

Can't afford the ludicrous Segway? Try the Megway instead.
Don't mention this Segway thing to me in conversation if you don't want to hear my rant about laziness and stupidity in modern society. Eventually the Segway is going to go the way of tobacco companies, being made responsible for people ruining their health.

Evolt turns three.
i remember the joy i felt when i found evolt and recognized names and mannerism from the long dead monkeyjunkies mailing list. this is where they'd all disappeared to. it's by far the best webdev community i know.
...what evolt.org continues to accomplish on a daily basis is a tribute to the spirit of the Internet. Thousands of people helping each other out - not for tangible gain, but because they all believe it makes the Internet a better place...

Check out the oldest article in the archive dated 12 May 1981, the First mention of the term 'search engine' in 1988, the First Usenet post from an AOL account or the First BOFH post from 1992.

US another step closer to taking over the world. With their 'Border Security Agreement' they're meddling in Canada's sovereignty and foreign policy. (via rotten.com)

Absolute must-read: Carrier Pidgeon Protocol a success:
The main reason for the long ping times was the neighbors' pigeons. [...]
And, as usual among Linux groupies, Microsoft took some of the heat. One pigeon bonked into a nearby window, spurring Cox to quip, "Oh, no! Windows causing problems again."

Darkness falls over the Land of the Free (flashmovie)
quote of the month
Nothing is more revolting than the majority; for it consists of few vigorous predecessors, of knaves who accomodate themselves, of weak people who assimilate themselves, & the mass that toddles after them without knowing the least what it wants.
